The majority of highly developed countries don't think belief in god is necessary for morality, with one exception: the United States. 53 percent of Americans believe atheists and agnostics are bad, evil people with no morality living in sin. The problem is, when you go to the place where you'd think most bad, evil rapists, thieves and murderers would end up - prison - atheists, who make up roughly 20% of the general population only make up 0.2% of the prison population. The truth is, prisons are full of Christians - as high as a 75% of the population by some estimates, and very few atheists.
