In Ukraine, a bitter
standoff between the government and opposition protesters showed no
signs of resolution. A week ahead of the Sochi Olympics, Russia
announced it detained two alleged accomplices in the December suicide
bombings in Volgograd. Activists said fighting in Syria killed nearly
1,900 people this week while peace talks were held in Switzerland. In
Egypt, ousted President Mohamed Morsi went on trial. And in South Sudan,
both sides accused each other of violating a ceasefire. A panel of
