Koch Brothers Exposed: The Chilling New Documentary Republicans Don’t Want You to See

There is a chilling new documentary about the billionaire brothers, David and Charles Koch, that some Republicans do not want you to see. On Monday, Republican Rep. The Gay Enemy Threat In The Christian Home

"In this country we have an epidemic whereby 40% of homeless youth are either gay, lesbian, or transgender. And the suicide rate among gay, lesbian, and transgender teens is frightening. A survey of one district, a district in famously liberal San Francisco, found that every year 1 out of 3 gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender students reportedly attempts suicide. A government report in 1989 put LGBT youth at four times the risk for a suicide attempt as any other young people. The Center For Disease Control and Prevention reports that “LGBT youth are also at increased risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors, suicide attempts, and suicide. A nationally representative study of adolescents in grades 7–12 found that lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth were more than twice as likely to have attempted suicide as their heterosexual peers [3]. More studies are needed to better understand the risks for suicide among transgender youth.” The L.A. Times recently re-reported the findings of a 2011 survey that found that “A whopping 41% of people who are transgender or gender-nonconforming have attempted suicide sometime in their lives, nearly nine times the national average” while covering a more up to date analysis of this epidemic..."

"The structures and star populations of massive galaxies appear to change as they age, but much about how these galaxies formed and evolved remains mysterious. Many of the oldest and most massive galaxies reside in clusters, enormous structures where numerous galaxies are found concentrated together. BRUTAL Female Genital Mutilation Happening to American Girls

"Jaha Dukureh, who is leading the campaign to end female genital mutilation in the US, and the head of the joint UNFPA/UNICEF project to end FGM Nafissatou Diop, and Shelby Quast, senior policy advisor at Equality Now answered questions about FGM from 12-1pm ET on Tuesday 20 May.

"Jaha's petition on Change.org and backed by congressman Joe Crowley, UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon, and the Guardian has reached over 48,000 signatures. The petition is calling for a new study to find out just how many girls and women are affected by FGM in the US, as the first step to forming a national action plan to tackle the practice. The number of American women and girls affected or at risk is believed to have grown by 35% to at least 228,000 between 1997 and 2000.

"Jaha has said she is determined to keep fighting until FGM is recognised as a real risk for American girls and policies are put in place to protect them. 'I don't want to be poster child. I want every woman who has been through this to be able to speak out,' she says."*

Accused War Criminal Accuses Obama of "Ignoring" the Law

"Former Vice President Dick Cheney has never been shy with his criticism for President Barack Obama, and a Monday conversation with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt marked no exception.

"Sitting for an interview to promote wife Lynne Cheney's new book on James Madison, the former second-in-command said that, though he's a 'big advocate of the strong executive office,' he believes Obama has taken things too far.

"'I really feel as though Barack Obama is ignoring the law in many cases, and going far beyond what was ever intended,' he said. 'I mean he, all by himself, sort of routinely changes the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, if it suits his will.'

"Cheney added that he believes the president teeters the line of unconstitutional behavior.

"'I think much of what's been done does in fact skate up to the edge of violating the constitution in terms of the way he's interpreted his executive power,' Cheney said."*

GOP Lawmaker: "Common Core Will Turn Your Kids Gay!"

"Common Core standards are a divisive topic in education circles, but one Florida lawmaker is taking his anti-Common Core message to a new level.

"State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) said the American Institutes for Research, which has been assigned to develop Common Core-based tests for Florida, 'are promoting as hard as they can, any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda.'

"Van Zant made those comments at the Operation Education Conference in Orlando back in March. Video of his comments was posted on ThinkProgress on Monday.

"'These people that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida, unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and will attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can,' Van Zant said.

"Van Zant concluded by telling the crowd, 'I'm sorry to report that to you ... I really hate to believe that news, but you need to know.'"*

War on Boys

What ever happened to letting "boys be boys?" Take these two cases: In one, a seven-year-old boy was sent home for nibbling a Pop Tart into a gun. In another, a teacher was so alarmed by a picture drawn by a student (of a sword fight), that the boy's parents were summoned in for a conference. In short, boys in America's schools are routinely punished for being active, competitive, and restless. In other words, boys can no longer be boys. Christina Hoff Sommers, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, explains how we can change this...
