Rick Perry Chewed Alive By His Own Words, Oops
"CNN host Kate Bolduan confronted Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) in an interview that aired Thursday about his suggestion that President Barack Obama may have engineered the current immigration crisis at the Texas border.
"We either have an incredibly inept administration, or they're in on this somehow or another," Perry had said Sunday on ABC's "This Week." "I mean I hate to be conspiratorial, but I mean how do you move that many people from Central America across Mexico and then into the United States without there being a fairly coordinated effort?"
Bolduan asked Perry to re-evaluate that statement in the wake of his meeting with Obama in Austin."*

'Legitimate Rape' Guy Takes Back His Apology & Makes It Worse
"Former congressman Todd Akin (R-Mo.) regrets apologizing for his 2012 remark that "legitimate rape" rarely causes pregnancy.
Akin explains himself in a soon-to-be-released book, "Firing Back: Taking on the Party Bosses and Media Elite to Protect Our Faith and Freedom." Politico obtained a copy early and reported on a passage in which Akin suggests that he shouldn't have apologized in a TV ad.

Fox News Has Typical Ironic B*tchfest Over Atheist Ad
"The New York Times ran a full page ad last week from the Freedom From Religion Foundation railing against the Supreme Court Hobby Lobby decision. But the ad happened to mention the Supreme Court is majority-Catholic, leading Fox News' Andrea Tantaros to ask if the Times is "profiting off of bigotry."...
There are exactly two mentions of Catholicism in the ad: once where it says "All-Male, All-Roman Catholic Majority On Supreme Court Puts Religious Wrongs Over Women's Rights," and again, a little farther down, where it reads "The Supreme Court's ultra-conservative, Roman Catholic majority...""

Republicans Have A New Love: Obamacare!
"Republicans, still flailing in their efforts to come up with their own healthcare plan, are also going to be flailing when it comes to finding a coherent argument for getting rid of Obamacare in the first place. Their arguments against the law keep being shot down by the reality of its successes. Here's another success: There are 9.5 million fewer uninsured people now, according to a new Commonwealth Fund study.
'According to the survey, the proportion of working-aged adults without insurance dropped from 20 percent in the late summer of 2013 to 15 percent in the late spring of 2014, a period that corresponds roughly to the beginning and end of open enrollment in the Affordable Care Act's marketplaces. To put that in more concrete terms, there are still a lot of Americans walking around without health insurance today. But there are about 9.5 million fewer of them than there were last fall, almost certainly because so many people have enrolled in the newly expanded Medicaid program or purchased subsidized insurance through the Obamacare marketplaces.'"*

Children Of Gay Parents Are Happier And Healthier Than Their Peers, New Study Finds
Conducted by Australia's University of Melbourne, the new research aimed to "describe the physical, mental and social well-being" of children with gay and lesbian parents, and "the impact that stigma has on them." On average, children raised by same-sex couples scored six percent higher than the general population when it came to general health and family cohesion.

Louie Gohmert Proves God's Existence With One Simple Equation
“Bob Murphey used to say, ‘You know, I feel so bad for atheists, I do,'” Gohmert recalled at "Celebrate America,” a three-week-long revival event. “‘Think about it, no matter how smart they think they are, an atheist has to admit that he believes the equation: nobody plus nothing equals everything.’”

Rural America Is Losing Its Hospitals - Some blame states' failure to expand Medicaid
Pungo's closing was caused partly by North Carolina's decision not to expand Medicaid under ObamaCare, says the hospital's non-profit owner. Other states that rejected the expansion—like Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama—have seen at least 11 hospitals close or cut back over the past two years, but Republican governors say the expansion would prove too costly over time. Meanwhile, a survey shows that the uninsured rate among poor people has fallen 11% in states expanding Medicaid, but only 2% in states that aren't, Huffington Post reports.
