This is a significant breakthrough in stem cell research. However, please note the article points out that embryonic stems cells are still the gold standard that has not yet been reached any other way, and that even this breakthrough is not yet proven to be capable of all the same things that embryonic stem cells can do, though it is closer.
Therefore, I point out that anyone who says we do not need embryonic stem cell research, because other types of stem cells can do the same things, is asserting a falsehood. (I'm looking at you, Michigan Catholic Conference of Bishops.)
