A ceasefire in Ukraine is set to go into effect this weekend. Germany’s chancellor warned that Russia will face new sanctions if the peace pact is not fully implemented. The U.S. confirmed the death of an American woman held hostage by ISIS. The extremist group advanced further in Iraq despite continued coalition airstrikes. The U.S., Britain and France closed their embassies in Yemen; the secretary general of the U.N. said “Yemen is collapsing before our eyes.” And Greece agreed to meet again with creditors in an attempt to negotiate new bailout terms.
