Raul F. Amaya: Religion, government are best kept separate

If the claim that the government was founded on Christian principles was true, why doesn't the Constitution mention Jehovah, Yahweh, Jesus, his teachings or the Ten Commandments?

Why doesn't it require members of Congress, the president, the vice president and Supreme Court justices to be Christians?

James Madison, the Constitution's principal author, wrote to Jefferson, "Religion ... has been much oftener a motive to oppression than a restraint from it."...
